Abstract

This study aims to analyze the practice of gender education at the Al-Asy'ariyyah Islamic Boarding School and how the authority of the kiai in shaping the perspective of students on gender relations. This study uses a qualitative approach with interview methods and participatory observation, and uses Pierre Bourdieu's theoretical framework in its analysis. The results of this study indicate that gender education at the Al-Asy'ariyyah Islamic Boarding School is not present in the formal curriculum or special subjects, but the values ​​of gender equality and justice are evident in the daily practices of the Islamic boarding school, especially those demonstrated in the exemplary behavior of the kiai and nyai and social relations in the Islamic boarding school.
