Arabic language learning in Qur’an-based Islamic boarding schools still relies heavily on sorogan, yet its practice is often limited to reading, literal translation, and grammatical correction. This study aims to reconstruct the sorogan model so that it becomes more systematic, integrative, communicative, and aligned with the character of Qur’an-based pesantren. The study employed a qualitative approach with a conceptual-pedagogical design. Data were derived from literature review, examination of pesantren learning concepts, analysis of Qur’an-based Arabic learning needs, and supported by observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings formulate seven stages: independent preparation, text reading, teacher correction, meaning dialogue, grammatical analysis, language practice, and Qur’anic reflection. This reconstruction expands sorogan from a text-reading method into a learning model integrating language mastery, Qur’anic understanding, and learning etiquette. The model preserves pesantren tradition while making Arabic learning more contextual and meaningful.
